1900-1939 Depression era McKee Glasbake Milk Glass Hottles with Black twining and a flanged dome-shaped stopper. The neck of the clear glass stopper is insulated with a cork ring. The bottom is marked, "McKee Hottle Glasbake Pat." It measures approximately 6" tall and 4" wide, and it is in excellent condition. Others Hottles date between 1939-1951. The pupose of a Hottle is to keep a beverage hot or cold. This particular style of Hottle was used during the passenger train era and in the hotel industry. Hot tea or coffee was poured into the Hottle then the Hottle was placed inside the cup to warm it while on the tray. The tray was then delivered to the passenger or the quest. Holds about two cups.
Works great and will enhance your breakfast or brunch. Terrific for the office because it has a stopper to keep it closed. Just add hot water and a tea bag and brew two cups of tea to have at your desk. Great for breakfast in bed or B&B tray.
