Charmeuse (French: [ʃaʁmøːz]) is a lustrous lightweight woven fabric with a satin weave. Silk charmeuse has a delicate hand that drapes elegantly. It is typically used for lingerie, flowing evening gowns, softly draping blouses, men's boxer shorts and linings. Charmeuse is slinky and fluid and tends to cling and drape against the body. It is one of the more challenging fabrics to sew and tears easily, especially when wet. Wash in cold water with Woolite and lay flat to dry. Block the fabric, that means shape the fabric, gently and do not pull or stretch it.
