One of the rarest styles of early 20th Century Jewelry is Arts and Crafts. This is a beautiful abstract large Brass brooch with large oval no-foil Amethyst glass.
It measures 2 1/4" by 2 1/4" corner to corner. It is 2 3/4" diagonally. The metal has the most beautiful iridescent gingerbread patina. Beautiful wavy form, it reminds me of a manta ray.
Stone is glass, Amethyst color, with a large table (top of the stone) and perimeter facets. It measures 1 1/4" by almost 3/4" wide. It is bezel set.
Condition is very good, there is one small dent on the bezel and a tiny chip on the stone underneath. It does not distract from the brooch's beauty and happened a long time ago.
Unsigned, closes with a simple C clasp, circa 1905.
