Very nice old working Chelsea Ship's Bell clock with serial number 47442, dating the clock's manufacture to sometime in 1909. Brass ships bell clock mounted to a mahogany wood stand with a brass pedestal between the clock and the stand. Clock has a silvered brass face with engraved and enameled Roman numeral numbers behind a hinged push-button bezel. Dial is engraved with retailer, Negus, New York.
Clock is in nice working order and very clean. Chime works fine as well. Comes with original Chelsea key. Dial measures roughly 5 1/2 inches wide, and the bezel measures just over 7 inches wide.
Clock case shows no damage and is in fine condition with virtually no wear at all. Mahogany base shows only some light wear. The previous owner looks to have done quick polishes on the clock...there is a bit of old polish around the hinge and the harder to polish spots on the clock (such as between the clock and the brass pedestal) show a bit of a darker patina. Black Market Antiques chose to leave the clock basically as found, with a bit of polishing the entire case would have a mirror finish.
This is truly a stunning clock. Why spend upwards of the same price for a brand new Chelsea Ship's Bell clock when you could have this beautiful and scarce antique clock.
