Communication During Crisis: The Role of Media During Public Health Emergencies Video
Seller Welcome to your Public Health Foundation Learning Resource Center

This program, which was originally broadcast on December 3, 2002 from the University of Albany Center for Public Health Preparedness, addresses the media's role in communicating during public health emergencies.

Douglas Starr, Professor and Co-Director; Knight Center for Science and Medical Journalism, Boston University College of Communication, addresses how public health professionals and the media deal with communication and public information sharing before and during a public health crisis. The goal of the program is to assist local and regional media and public health officials to work together to provide honest, broad-based, specific and appropriate information before the onset of a crisis and to develop tools to maintain useful communication channels after an event occurs.
