A long time ago...
There existed a civilization in the east, which flourished through the power of alchemy. The king utilized alchemy to build giant cities, cultivate the land, and protect the citizens from invaders. The people both revered and feared the miracles performed by their king. But then, one day, tragedy befell them. The king committed a forbidden act and as a consequence, a terrible catastrophe struck the land.
The civilization is said to have perished in a single night...
And then...
There lived two alchemist brothers who tried to bring their deceased mother back to life by attempting the most forbidden act in alchemy: human transmutation. And they, too, paid a terrible price.

Battle System:
- OFFENSE - Ed's bare-handed combat is much improved. With his impressively quick punch combos, foot sweeps, slide kicks, and high kicks, Ed can deliver a wide variety of strikes without the use of a single weapon.
- DEFENSE - Ed's agility allows for a variety of defensive moves, from blocking to executing dodge moves such as rolling, cartwheeling and back flips to counterattacks. Counterattacks are a new feature in this installment. When an enemy attacks, if well-timed, Ed can unleash a powerful counterattack which can deal a great amount of damage.
- COOPERATING WITH AL - Al fights on his own, but you can also give him specific orders. When you have to fight against multiple enemies, cooperating with Al enables you to fight with extra efficiency. Command Al to tackle enemies, alleyoop you to higher areas, and man weapons. When the rage gauge is full, Al can launch you into the air to unleash a powerful rage attack.
Alchemy:
- Aside from transmuting useful weapons and tools from the surrounding environment, Ed can utilize learned alchemy in which a weapon is transmuted from the ground anywhere, anytime. Arm yourself with a lance, a sword, a hammer, and a spear and execute powerful combos.
Support Characters:
- Aside from Al, Riza Hawkeye and Roy Mustang can join your team to fight along your side against the relentless enemy!
- Fighting with Riza Hawkeye - Calm and collected, her expertise with firearms makes this highly capable lieutenant and ideal companion in battle.
- Fighting with Roy Mustang - Underneath his playboy facade lies a calculating and powerful alchemist whose pyrotechnical skills have given him the alias: "the Flame Alchemist."
