iMatch SL - Single Length Irons
The iMatch SL Single Length Irons bring an exciting iron concept to the component golf world.
Single Length Irons, and the iMatch SL in particular, are designed to be built to the same length in the 4 iron through the Pitching Wedge. Why is this interesting? It allows the golfer to use the same swing, on the same plane, for all of his clubs.
The Single Length Iron concept is not new. They were manufactured commercially in the 1980s by Tommy Armour Golf under the name EQL irons. These irons were very successful for a short time, however the pressures of high volume sales in the world of big business forced Tommy Armour to abandon the concept.
Moe Norman was one of the staunch advocates of the single length iron concept, and Moe's phenominal ball striking is still admired by the best golfers in the world today. Moe's single plane swing - though not necessary to use single length irons - was perfectly fitted to the single length concept as well.
The iMatch SL irons have a large game improvement profile, combined with a deep cavity and progressive offset. Not only are these irons easy to hit, they deliver outstanding performance for golfers of many skill levels.
The Sand Wedge is designed to be built to a standard length of 35 1/2 inches, as our testing showed it was very difficult to hit a 37 1/2" sand wedge consistently out of a greenside bunker. The Sand Wedge matches the rest of the set perfectly, and in fact is such a great sand wedge it's being purchased by people who do not purchase the iMatch SL set - just for it's playability!
Lofts are strengthened and loft gaps are larger in the longer irons than in traditional irons to maintain a distance gap progression for the average golfer of 10 to 12 yards per club. Bounce and a progressive offset are added to make these clubs easy to hit off any lie.
Cast from soft, 1020 stainless steel, these irons can be adjusted for both loft and lie up to 4 degrees without fear of breakage.
Assembly options include:
- Steel Shafts
- Graphite Shafts
- Flighted Tip Trimming (higher ball flight in long irons, lower in short irons)
- 6 iron, 7 iron, or 8 iron lengths (37.5", 37" or 36.5" lengths)
- Pro-T grip of your choice
The steel shaft used is the FST ProVision. This is a steel shaft designed to be trimmed for alternative ball flights, and plays extremely well in both Flighted and Non-Flighted trimming - available in A, R, S and X flexes.
The graphite shaft option uses the iFit Cadium 70 shaft, available in A, R, and S flexes, is a tip stable shaft that can also be trimmed for Flighted or Non-Flighted options. It's lighter weight allows for overall lighter clubs that are better suited to slower swing speeds.
Other shafts or grips may be substituted, though a change in price may result.
