The Maori Taiaha is a sacred Maori weapon. A ceremonial greeting lance used in a frenzied dance by a single warrior to welcome visitors onto the sacred courtyard of the Maori. The ceremony is called the Wero or the challenge and was meant to ascertain whether the visitors came in friendship or otherwise.

Taiaha is a very special Maori Carving and treasure that is passed down from generation to generation. This Maori Wood Carving is also a good represenation of Maori Art.
