Mid-price 34 track 2 CD Set compiling key tracks from a six year period as crucial to Miles' progress as an artist as to the development of jazz music And modern music in general. These tracks take the listener from watershed Be Bop recordings in 1945 when Charlie Parker hired the 19 year old trumpeter (they had played together in the Billy Eckstine big band); through a series of all-star Parker band sessions in 1947; on to the legendary sequence of Birth of the Cool recordings with Gerry Mulligan Gil Evans John Lewis Lee Konitz etc. These are interspersed with Miles' work with the forward-looking Tadd Dameron his 1949 Festival International de Jazz appearances And New York sessions with Sarah Vaughan. This set finishes with the beginning of Miles' important Prestige recordings with Sonny Rollins Jackie McLean Art Blakey etc
