Currently unavailable in any other form this exciting new mid-price release contains one of the least known Miles Davis recordings around the complete Amsterdam Concertgebouw Broadcast December 8 1957 - with the talented tenor saxophonist Barney Wilen the massively under-rated pianist Rene Urtreger And the superb rhythm section of bassist Pierre Michelot & drummer Kenny Clarke the same quartet with whom he had recorded the soundtrack to Louis Malle's film "Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud" (Lift To The Scaffold) earlier the same year. The recording has remained virtually unavailable on any format for decades so Lone Hill Jazz is especially proud to put this hidden gem back into circulation. Although the sound quality is imperfect the outstanding performances by the musicians - most notably Miles himself - more than make up for it. with Barney Wilen - Tenor saxophone Rene Urtreger - Piano Pierre Michelot - bass Kenny Clarke - Drums
