Two previously unissued concerts given by the unique multi reed player Roland Kirk about whom Charles Mingus said : This man is what jazz is all about. He's real. ÷ The first was filmed in Milan in 1962 where Kirk shared the stage with another famous blind musician the Catalonian pianist Tete Montoliu And star rhythm men Tommy Potter (bass) & Kenny Clarke (drums). Five years later the regular Roland Kirk quartet -- Ron Burton (piano) Steve Novosel (bass) & Jimmy Hopps (drums) · put on a passionate performance at a jazz festival in Prague. The material from this set was being tried out live before being included in the album The Inflated Tear÷ recorded shortly afterwards. Seeing the superbly creative Kirk in action armed with a large collection of wind instruments is an experience not to be missed And both the sound And image on this DVD are of a high quality.
