An activity schedule is a set of pictures (or words) that cues the child to do a sequence of actions. For a younger child, this could be used to cue the child to play with several toys, in a certain way, in a certain order. For example, to do a puzzle, color-matching game, felt animal board. For an older child with reading skills, it can be a written schedule. At first the schedule can be broken down into detailed steps for each activity. For example, "making pudding" can be broken down into "get milk, get bowl, get pudding mix" and so on. Activity schedules help autistic children become more independent because they can do the activities without constant close supervision and prompting. This increased competence increased self-confidence. Softcover, 117 pages, 5.5" x 8.5".
