Info: Until her death in 1994 Brenda Wootton was an ambassador for the Cornish tradition And culture. 'The Voice of Cornwall' is a worthy remembrance of a great Cornish talent. Active on the UK folk scene since the early 60s her early albums were on the Sentinel label in the late 60s when her 'Pipers Folk Club' was at its height - often recording & appearing with her then partner John the Fish (later a regular contributor to Radio Cornwall). She almost single-handedly kept the Cornish folk song tradition alive for many years but always mixed in versions of other UK folk music And even pop/rock adaptations. Many of her recordings were on the Burlington label but through her great popularity in Brittany she made several albums for RCA France in the 1980's
