The Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals, a set of skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for the broad practice of public health, can enhance workforce development efforts and curriculum development. The list was adopted by the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice on April 11, 2001, after a lengthy review process that involved more than 1,000 public health professionals. Since that time the Core Competencies have been used by numerous public health agencies and organizations and academic institutions.
The Core Competencies can help you:
- create and evaluate competency-based trained content and curricula;
- assess training needs and develop performance reviews;
- craft job descriptions; and
- develop disciple-specific competencies.
This 12-paged booklet lists the 68 competencies and attitudes and provides an overview of their development, uses, and available tools.
The booklet is sold in packages of 25.
