Each year, 1 in 4 adolescents reports verbal, physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Choose Respect Campaign is an initiative to help adolescents form healthy relationships to prevent dating abuse before it starts. This initiative stresses the importance of respect as a foundation for building healthy relationships.
This 15âx19â poster shows a situation where a teen could choose abuse or choose respect:
- I saw Dave yelling at Megan in the hall so I went the other way.
- I saw Dave yelling at Megan in the hall so I asked him to stop.
Display this brightly colored, poster throughout schools, community centers, hospitals, and faith-based organizations to encourage teens and adults to openly discuss respect as a choice, and to make sound relationship decisions. A smaller version 11"x14" and Spanish versions of this poster are also available.
