Details:
Ramblin' Jack Elliott was born in Brooklyn the son of a doctor. He ran way to join the rodeo and ended up as a romantic legend. He travelled with Woody Guthrie and influenced a generation or two with his guitar and vocal stylings. He was the original template for Bob Dylan. RAMBLINÆ JACK consists of the fantastic original tapes Jack made soon after his arrival in England in the mid 1950s. Many of the tracks are Woody Guthrie songs including "Pretty Boy Floyd" "Hard Travelling" and "Talking Dustbowl Blues". Other songs include great versions of some of the classic American folk songs and blues and some include vocal and banjo contributions from another legendary early American folksinger Derroll Adams. Finally there is the classic early performance of Jesse Fuller's "San Francisco Bay Blues" which Jack performed at the 2005 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ceremony where he received the Lifetime Achiement Award. These tracks recorded almost 50 years ago are not just an historical document but are just as relevant to today's folk movements and heroes as they were when they were first recorded
