Burntisland, Fife - The Aluminium Works
The Alcan aluminium works at Burntisland produced high quality alumina for smelting to produce aluminium in Scotland from bauxite imported through the nearby docks. The plant switched to producing chemicals in the mid-1970's but was closed in 2002. As Alcan could not find a buyer the plant has since been demolished.
