Details:
Otis Spann was born in Jackson Mississippi March 21 1930 and died in Chicago April 24 1970. His mother played blues guitar and his father was a blues pianist . Otis picked up piano y ear when he was seven and had no instruction. He was influenced and tutored however by a local blues pianist Cose Davis who recorded for the Bluebird blues series in the thirties. When his mother died Otis moved to Chicago where his father had already been living for a year and working as a plasterer. Only 17 Otis soon auditioned for Muddy Waters and was hired. He also came to know the late Big Bill Broonzy who encouraged him. From the beginning however
