It ain't your grampaw's music, although he'd probably like it ! The music of Billy Jones is deeply rooted in the rich blues/soul tradition of the Arkansas/Mississippi delta, while at the same time, the music is very much in tune to the modern tastes and urban attitudes of today's twenty-first century music fans He calls it "tha' Bluez" ! The 14 original songs on this CD were all written and performed by him. Born in 1953, Billy grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas USA where his family owned a blues cafe that was often host to blues legends such as Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Bobby 'Blue' Bland and many others. Billy idolized these music stars, and after learning to play guitar as a child, he began to imitate his musical heroes, and soon became understudy to such blues greats as Little Johnny Taylor, Larry 'Totsie' Davis, Calvin Levy, Rufus Thomas, Cal Valentine, Richard 'Dimples' Fields, The Loving Sisters, Art Porter and many others. A natural and gifted performer, Billy has been touring professionally since his teens, formed his own group in his early twenties and has backed-up or recorded with Vernon Garrett, Willie Clayton, Jay Blackfoot, Chocolate Milk, Chaka Chan, The Bar-Kays, Chick Willis, Willie Cobb, Hosea Levy, Denise LaSalle, Marvin Sease, Mel Waiters, Al Hudson and many others
