Relax and enjoy the unspoilt beauty of this coastal park on the northern end of Bribie Island. Beaches, wetlands, wallum heath, melaleuca swamps, eucalypt woodlands. Cultural heritage includes shell middens and other evidence of Indigenous Australian people's traditional use of the area, and weathered structures remaining from the World War II coastal defence system. Tidal wetlands and waters around Bribie Island are protected as part of Moreton Bay Marine Park. Fish, crabs and prawns breed in Pumicestone Passage and dugong feed on its seagrass communities. Thousands of shorebirds feed and roost here. Bribie Island Recreation Area provides a variety of coastal camping experiences, some accessible by four-wheel-drive, others accessible by boat. You will need a vehicle service permit to travel to four-wheel-drive-accessible camping areas. You will need a camping permit to camp in the recreation area. Camping permits for all camp sites must be obtained before you enter the recreation area (there is no self-registration on site). Fees apply. Fresh water is not provided at any of the camping areas bring your own water. Mission Point camping area Bush camping. Be self-sufficient - take water, firewood and a fuel stove. Accessible only by boat. Tent sites; Toilets; Swimming; BBQ/Fireplace; Picnic tables; Fishing; Canoeing; NO RUBBISH DISPOSAL - must take with you; Boat patrolled. Poverty Creek camping area This large camping area has open grassy sites and shady trees, and includes sites suitable for camper-trailers and group camping. Be self-sufficient - take water, firewood and a fuel stove. Accessible by boat; 4WD access - check with ranger first. Tent sites; Toilets; BBQ/Fireplace; Picnic tables; Fishing; NO RUBBISH DISPOSAL - must take with you; Patrolled site. Bush Camping - Gallagher's Point This area offers a limited number of bush camping sites. There are no toilets or other facilities here. Be self-sufficient - take water and a fuel stove. Boat access only to Lime Pocket.; Boat access & 4WD access - check with ranger first to Gallagher's Point. Tent sites; Fishing; NO RUBBISH DISPOSAL - must take with you; Boat patrolled. Beach Camping - Ocean Beach The designated camping area is 16km north of the beach access point on North Street, Woorim. Campsites just behind the dunes are accessible from defined track entrances. There are no toilets or other facilities here. Be self-sufficient - take water and a fuel stove. 4WD access - check with ranger first. Obtain 4WD permit from Caboolture Shire Council.
