RARE Red Wing "Dancing Peasants" bowl with embossed and handpainted decoration and a deep green glaze. The Red Wing mark with the underline and flourish is listed as a 1930s and 40s mark in Lehner's Encyclopedia of U. S. Marks on Pottery, Porcelain & Clay. It is my understanding that this pattern only appeared on three pieces. It measures 11" across and 3 1/2" high--a nice low bowl that would look fabulous filled with fruit! It has no cracks or chips. A fair amount of the handpainting is still intact. Because this is cold painted on top of the glaze, the missing paint could be restored by the new owner if desired. Very heavy, since this is technically classified as stoneware.
