D-Link Wireless PCMCIA Cardbus - 11mbps Adapter
The D-Link Air DWL-610 is a powerful CardBus adapter for notebook PCs. This adapter connects you to a 2.4GHz wireless LAN, giving you wireless access to the network. With fast 32-bit PC Card Type II interface, the DWL-610 provides industry standard interoperability, strong data security and ease of use ideal for notebook PC users requiring wireless network connection.
With IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN industry standard compliance, the DWL-610 adapter provides network interoperability for wireless connectivity.
Security is an issue when data is transmitted without the wires. In the air, transmitted data can be easily intercepted if not well protected by a security scheme. The DWL-610 provides the necessary security, using 64/128-bit industry standard WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) encryption protocol. Data privacy mechanism is based on a shared key algorithm, as described in the wireless LAN standard.
With hot swap and plug-and-play capabilities, the DWL-610 adapter can be easily installed into a notebook PC to provide connectivity directly to another wireless enabled device (adhoc mode) or through an Access Point (infra-structure mode).
The card slides easily into your laptop's PC Card slot and sets up quickly with the included driver. Used in conjunction with a wireless access point, SWLC-1100 lets you join your wireless network to your existing wired network. With an operating range of up to 300 meters, the WLL-1200 enables roaming throughout your wireless environment from one access point to another to share network resources, send and receive e-mails, surf on the Internet, at a high-speed 11 Mbps data rate. Standards-based 802.11b technology and 128-bit wired equivalent privacy (WEP) encryption ensure maximum reliability and privacy for your network. The SWLC-1100 performs with a wide range of wireless Internet services available in public areas/hot spots like hotels, airports. It supports Notebook PCs running Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, XP.
