According to White's, Collectors Guide to Made in Japan Ceramics, this root beer barrel mug is mark #28, Hotta Yu Shoten & Co., in business before WWII, closed 1947. This mug belongs to a set which includes a pitcher. The front is decorated with incised lines that give it a wood-like appearance and a seal that says, "Old Kentucky Root Beer."
Marked: Hand Painted Japan encircling 5-petal flower.
Condition: There are some stains and crazing on the inside.
Size: 4"h x 4.5"w includes handle; Handle = 4.5"h x 1.5"w; Lip = 2.75"d; 3"w at largest circumference of the barrel.
