On September 9, 1927, in light of the spirit of the ""August 8 meeting of central party, Mao Zedong launched the Autumn Harvest Uprising in Hunan-Jiangxi Border Region. The Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army, with Lu Deming as the chief commander, began to attack Changsha. Because the enemy was strong, while they were weak, the uprising failed before long. Having considered the situation, Mao Zedong decided to give up the plan of striking against Changsha, but put forward a bold proposal to establish Soviets in the very weakest place of the enemy's domain where they were vigorous with armed struggle and agrarian revolution. Under the leadership of Mao Zedong, the uprising forces marched toward Jinggang mountains.
