Mantras, Yantras and Fabulous Gems was written to enable people, especially from the West, to understand and appreciate the ancient healing techniques that have been passed down verbally for generations and finally put into verse by the great sages and seers of ancient Bharata-varsha (India).
Just one part of the vedas-mantras, yantras and gemstone therapy have been utilised with vedic astrology and ayurveda as a form of prescription for thousands of years.
It is the authors wish that the reader, once having tasted this knowledge, will feel excited at the prospect of delving further into the Vedas and all the secrets they contain.
From the Author:
In this decade of the twentieth century many fads and trends from fashion to language and philosophy use some portion of vedic science incorporated into western lifestyle. There are so many people giving their own views of what they mean, but these sciences must be understood as they were originally presented to be effectual. Our feeling is that the book will be recognised as the work of a man who is a true devotee of not only vedic science, but overall spiritual culture of ancient India.
I hope that both vedic astrologers and practitioners of ayurveda who already recommend these healing measures to their clients, as well as all western and Chinese astrologers, health care professionals, yoga students, and the general public will find this book useful. Futhermore, I sincerely pray that all those who read it will get a better understanding of these ancient secrets, helping them to realise the art of healing on a higher, more spiritual level.
My purpose in writing this book is to present some bona-fide information on the science of healing through vibration of sacred vedic mantras, mathematically and geometrically perfect yantras and the use of natural gemstones as delineated in the vedic scriptures of ancient India. So much information abounds in the marketplace, yet much of it (now called New-Age) is without a common or reliable source in which the reader can have faith.
Most of the information on vedic mantra and yantra are in Indian publications which are difficult for the average westerner to comprehend as they are written with the premise that the reader already has some basic or fundamental knowledge of the subject matter. There are some texts written in English on gemstone therapy yet my wife and I searched in vain when researching this book to find any books encompassing all three of these subjects. We travelled all over India, researching books in stores, libraries, and museums. We not only found nothing which contained these subjects together, but found very few that the average westerner would read past the first page due to the style of writing being aimed solely at those of Indian background and culture.
The texts found in the west on gem therapy and the medicinal use of gemstones rarely agree in their conclusions and seem to have no real bona-fide sources for coming to them. The texts of the other civilisations known to have such knowledge many thousands of years ago have long since disappeared. There are no authoritative texts which predate the sanskrit vedic texts of ancient India. These vedas are said to be the authority and law books for mankind, being of divine descent. Almost everything I could find written by westerners which wasn't based on the vedic version was inconclusive and speculative. There was disagreement as to the actual potencies of the gems, as well as how they could be used. Most were considered "folklore" and even the authors themselves seemed unconvinced as to the efficacy of what they were writing about.
Some of the books written in the most recent years were said to be "channelled" information, that a being of higher knowledge and "channelled" information, that a being of higher knowledge and consciousness, no longer dwelling on the physical plane of existence, spoke it using the body of a medium to communicate through. Although this is nothing new or astounding still there should be a verifiable source for such information, which thus far has not been found.
I am hopeful that those who take the time to read this book will find it informative and helpful in understanding the purpose and uses of mantras, yantras and gems in healing the body, mind, and spirit. My even greater hope is that the readers will gain some insight into their own needs and desires on a higher plane of spiritual consciousness, causing them to further delve into higher truths available within the texts of the ancient vedic civilisation.
