In his ground breaking work God/Goddess the Astrologer, Jeffrey Armstrong builds a comprehensive foundation for understanding our partly forgotten Indian heritage and does so in a flesh, engaging, witty style that makes the complexities and surprising relationships of Ayurveda and sidereal astrology both easy to understand and entertaining. The reader is rewarded with a series of "Ahas!" moments on every page as Armstrong masterfully reveals the connections between the suppression of ancient science and history with the complexities of karma, reincarnation, astrology, ayurveda, and Indian metaphysics. These fascinating insights also have practical real-life implications; Armstrong offers simple Ayurvedic tools that readers can immediately us to improve their daily success in relationships, health, and spiritual awakening. The author's broad scholarship and crisp exposition is balanced in true Tantric form with his sublime poetry of metaphysical romance, which is necessary to reveal the passionate understanding of a true yogi. It is rare to find a book so stimulating and packed with brilliance, and yet so lucid and enjoyable to read.
Dharma Sivan - Living Traditions, Australia
Astrology is seen by many as a superstition or at worst a form of divination. Much of this disrepute has actually come from the fast that Western or tropical astrology is based on premises that have now proven to be faulty. Indeed using Western astrology the star signs found in most newspapers are at least one sign out of whack. Armstrong argues for the accuracy and antiquity of Sidereal astrology, which is known in the east as the science of light or Jyotisha. He presents a well-reasoned case and takes us on a journey through the foundations of Vedic astrology and indeed Vedic science in general. He shows us the inter-connections between Vedic astrology, health (Ayurveda) and the ancient spiritual traditions as elucidated in the Vedas. Armstrong offers us a truly holistic system, one that brings together all aspects of life and one in which astrology rather than just being a divination system offers insights in our true nature. God the Astrologer is well written, easy to read and fun. The author understands the need for a simple yet comprehensive introduction to Vedic Astrology and hence each chapter is presented in bite-sized packages with lots of carefully defined paragraphs for easy digestion. He has a real knack of making complex subjects seem simple and communicates the essence of what is an age-old esoteric system in an easy to read and enjoyable manner. God the Astrologer is not just a useful introduction for anyone interested in Jyotisha, but also for friends and acquaintances that just wish to understand our worldview better. Here is a simple overview of Jyotisha, Ayurveda and Vedic philosophy that can be used for sharing our traditions with those around us. Indeed it would be great book to donate to school and public libraries. This is a fantastic volume, which answers so many needs. It is a great introduction, an overview and a fantastic vehicle for bringing the Vedic vision to a wider audience.

"This is Jeffrey in top form. Few have the credentials and gifts he has. One of the few really bright thinkers of our times on spiritual matters, this is him elaborating his views on astrology, the soul, life, God, the big stuff, the real big questions. This is not some intro book on Jyotish. It's about what and who we are, and how it's all working. Few can speak like him on these matters, because he's simply lived the life required to touch the sensitive issues, and has done his India based homework, so he knows how to represent Vedic matters properly. Jeffrey is actually a gifted author, a person who should be writing, a poet and speaker, so whatever he creates in literature, in a page turner, and here so again. Here, he'll make you think, deeply. Be ready for that. Read him delivering a nuke on Western Astrology deftly and with feigned compassionate grace. This is someone actually worth reading. Remember too that Jeffrey is an entertainment genius, venting here as an author with a large viewing angle, as a teller of the wide, a breaker of small lenses, a cartographer of reality. This is a book I actually like reading. Enjoy!"

Jeffrey knows the secret code of both the heart and the mind, and uses them to present the ancient message of an advanced culture that until now, has labored against racial, religious and intellectual bias. This book is so good, I intend to use it as a text in my Vedic Astrology classes. Jeffrey Armstrong's new book GOD (Goddess) the Astrologer is a significant contribution to a little-understood field. Vedic Astrology is anything but new of course, but it is new to most people in the West. In my experience as a practicing astrologer over 30 years, Vedic Astrology (Jyotish) is significantly more accurate in predicting both character traits and major life-changing experiences. It can also show us how to adjust our attitude to the transcendent purpose underlying the physical reality of the universe. Jeffrey communicates these themes in contemporary language with elegance, wit and style. He also contributes his mystical poetry, redolent with recondite spiritual insights and bursting with exuberant word-play. Jeffrey knows the secret code of both the heart and the mind, and uses them to present the ancient message of an advanced culture that until now, has labored against racial, religious and intellectual bias. This book is so good, I intend to use it as a text in my Vedic Astrology classes. That says a lot, since I am a professional writer of 20 years' standing. Well done, Jeffrey!
