Bolaget egna beskrivning: The Giessen-born Achim Treder and the native Yugoslaw George Liscevic founded CHROME A FASHION in 1986, engaged Spencer DArcy Chapman as a new singer and released the self-financed single Your Brains On The Wall. In 1990 the bands name was changed into CRADLE OF SPOIL. Soon afterwards Spencer left the band in order to care about his new project TEMPLAR, so Longin Schampera took over the singing part in 1992. After releasing the demo-tape Beyond The Line via Tecdance, George replaced Longin as the singer. Strongly influenced by bands of the 80s like DEPECHE MODE or ALPHAVILLE, they created a sound, which was reflected in the club hits Engel fliegen durch die Nacht and 1000 Jahre in a very atmospheric, sometimes dark, then again melodic way. The educated soprano Sabine Reder and writer Michael Brueck provided additional colour-points on the debut album Tausend Jahre. Although a long pause followed both by the label and the band after releasing the EP Solar Eclipse in 1995, CRADLE OF SPOIL were not inactive, but continuously worked on new material. After growing musically with the stronger involvement of writer Michael Brueck and the new singer Christine Hoehn, the quartet presented an impressive appetizer with the new single Vertraue nie der Luege, followed now by the 15-track-album Die Macht des Schweigens. The album documented the whole versatility of a band, which have been grown up with the timeless pop-brilliance of acts like DEPECHE MODE, ALPHAVILLE, HUMAN LEAGUE, BLANCMANGE or ULTRAVOX and made the lasting power of melody and authenticity of emotion to the paradigm of its own creating process. The impressive comeback of CRADLE OF SPOIL continues the bands well-known virtues and the specific charisma, but also comes up with interesting innovations of the electronic music scene. Well-tried qualities are combined with new things in a very band-specific way on Die Macht des Schweigens, but also emotion with danceability, the mystic with the reality of life. With refreshing, totally cliché-free German lyrics CRADLE OF SPOIL transform personal experiences of isolation and abandonment into multi-layered musical pearls, which connect NDW-minimalism (Heiße Kuesse, Gelueste), genius pop and futuristic technology as in Wasser (Tiefes Blaues) or Six Leaves with irresistible danceability (I Will Guide You, Koenigin der Nacht, Erloesung, Kaltes Herz) and sensitive duets (Read My Lips). The symbolic ambiguous artwork on the basis of Georges paintings couldnt apt better the consequent evolution and complexity of CRADLE OF SPOIL. Fine, that the silence finally was broken, because CRADLE OF SPOIL still have to tell us a lot, shining musical stories, we hardly couldnt experience ourselves so colourful.
