Donald McClennan was born on North Uist, has fished all his life and now spends his time guiding on the island. The Outer Hebrides, where North Uist lies, are a wild place for the angler: wild weather, wild waters, wild fish. Spirit, technique, tackle and clothing all have to be tough just to survive there, never mind succeed. So when Donald recently picked up an Angel TE, cast it on a sea pool for fifteen minutes and pronounced it the best rod he had ever used, its wise to take him seriously. And there are many anglers at the highest level of the sport who would agree.
Let Game Product Manager and Angel rod designer Howard Croston explain the phenomenal qualities of the TE...
We began to realise that the potential of the Angel is so vast that we could push it further and further, creating a rod to satisfy even the most experienced caster. The result is the TE. A rod so extraordinarily, unbelievably quick that, in the right hands, it can deliver extreme distance and accuracy yet still cast nice short lines.
Since then, the TE has gone on to prove itself essential for countless top-level fly anglers around the world. You have to work to get the best out of an Angel TE, but get your technique right and you will soon appreciate there is nothing to match it.
