Problems at Portland: The Seventh Hawkridge Book
By Jack Daniel
Published by Exposure Publishing, September 2006, ISBN 184685282X
A source reveals that information about the latest British developments in submarine sonar signal processing are known to potential enemies. The information is so detailed that it must have come from the research establishment at Portland. At the same time a university student doing computer studies finds details of the proposed new US Army stealth tank hidden in a Tank Warfare computer game. He takes it to retired General Hawkridge who contacts the Ministry of Defence and the US Embassy. It must have come from Bovington Camp in Dorset where the latest British, American and German tanks are under evaluation. Captain Jackie Fraser of the Special Investigation Branch is sent to investigate.
Southern Enquiries is asked by a major construction company to investigate a subsidiary that appears to be over-ordering materials. The investigations reveal dishonest employees, a dishonest Member of Parliament and a continental firm with a side-line in espionage.
