The Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union Ltd. (YCFCU) is one of the largest coffee grower organizations in the world, representing the economic livelihood of 42,065 farmers. Located in the famous region of Gedeo, the Union is comprised of 21 different co-ops, with 56,000 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of quality coffee.
Through the Union's cooperative efforts in ensuring the production of high quality coffee, it was granted special permission to bypass Ethiopias government-run coffee auction. The Union currently works to establish sustainable relationships with importer and roaster clients.
