And there's no better way to explore mid-Wales than by bike. There are large tracts of commercial forest covering areas of the surrounding hills. So where you'd reasonably expect to find waterlogged, difficult bridleways typical of the Cambrian Mountains here there's a wealth of well-graded, all-weather tracks to explore. Within the forests are ancient by-ways and bridleways which often make for more challenging rides, especially where contour lines jostle for space on the map.
