Wii Chess: A Fair Review February 4, 2008

The Wii series is home to some of the best value for money games on the Wii. Wii Sports: An excellant package, fun for the whole family, comes bundled free with the console. Wii Play: A nice little bundle of shallow but fun games, and that's essentially a 5.00 game when you add the Wii Remote to it, so great value for money. Now there's a new kid on the block: Wii Chess. For hardcore chess fans who own a Wii this is a must, with fun On-and Offline multiplayer, and a variety of difficulty levels ranging from easy (1) to nearly impossible (10) so it is fun for those of all difficulty levels. It uses an extremely intelligent chess modem, something to give chess experts a run for their money. The only minor gripes are the lack of any motion sensitivity control, as it is played using the buttons on the Wiimote or the Classic Controller, and there is little to entice non-chess fans. (I mean, my brother loves chess but he still isn't prepared for the really difficult levels yet). And all this for just 16.98, another good value for money game. No, its not Super Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess, but nevertheless a nice casual, Saturday afternoon game. Wii are having fun at my house now!
