Sir Balbir Singh rules over both the state of Himmatpur and his own home with an iron fist, but royal splendor brings no joy to his two daughters, who wish for any life other than the one to which they were born. But the hiring of a young doctor promises to brighten the girls' otherwise bleak environment. Change is inevitable, and soon, pride, tragedy and shifting political tides tear apart the very fabric of Sir Singh's home and monarchy.
