Create Scrapbook Pages in Photoshop Elements
Jane Conner-ziser instructs you with 23 step-by-step sessions designed to broaden the skill-sets of scrapbooking hobbyists committed to taking their artistry to the next level. Session 01 : Overview of the Elements Workspace Become familiar with the Elements interface and the tools you will use to create beautiful scrapbook pages.
Session 02 : Image size and Resolution A quick guide to what size and resolution means and how cameras, scanners and printers use them. Learn how the process works to change a capture or a scan into a photograph the size you want to make. Learn about Image Size and use the Crop Tool.
Session 03 : Using Layers Part 1 Making and Arranging Layers Layers keep everything separated on your page so you can easily move and change them anytime without affecting other items. In this session you will learn how to add new layers, duplicate layers, make layers from selections and use image adjustment layers. Use the Magic Selection Brush and the Brush Tool.
Session 04 : Using Layers Part 2 Combining Multiple Pictures on a Page In this session you will learn how to make a new canvas, or page, open multiple files, resize them and put them together on a page. Learn how to resize, rotate, crop and transform images to fit new pages.
Session 05 : Making Creations in Elements NEW in Elements are special features that allow you to click and choose decorative options for making custom artistic pages from special effects themes and icons. Learn how to use this new feature and get a jump start on creating pages with style. Use the Making Creations options and the Artwork and Effects Palette.
Session 06 : Adjusting and Enhancing Image Color and Value See how to determine what is wrong with the overall color or value of an image and how to make adjustments to get the best picture possible. Learn how to use the Quick Fix Workspace.
Session 07 : Converting Color Images to Black and White This session covers how to convert a color image into a beautiful black and white image and add a sepia tone effect. Use the Convert to Black and White window and Hue Saturation.
Session 08 : Adding Spot Color to a Black and White Image Learn a second way to make a black and white image from a color file and then how to add spot color from the original color photograph and also how to make an antique hand tinted photograph. See how to use a Layer Mask! Paint with the Brush Tool and use different Layer Blending Modes.
Session 09 : A Little Facial Retouching Every now and then you want to remove a blemish or soften under eye shadows. In this session you will learn how to use retouching tools to remove small imperfections and smooth the skin. Learn how to use the Healing Brush and the Spot Healing Brush.
Session 10 : Creating Vignettes See how to make windows of light in cookie cutter shapes, make classic photo vignettes and add artistic edges for images. Use the Marquee Tools, Filters, layer blending modes, the Cookie Cutter, and Fill.
Session 11 : Textured Papers Making interesting textured papers is fun and easy in Photoshop Elements. In this session you will use selection tools, blending modes and special texture effects to make a paper you can use over and over again, without spending more money every time!
Session 12 : Patterned Papers See how to use simple shapes to create decorative patterned papers. The technique can be applied to both shapes and images! Also see how you can make richly embossed papers to underlay wedding pictures and other fine art photographs.
Session 13 : Photo Papers The ultimate paper in Elements is photo papers that start with your own special images. Use them to set off focal point pictures, to provide artistic vignettes or to provide a base for your traditional scrapbook materials.
Session 14 : Using Shapes Elements 5 introduces an incredible new palette of custom shapes, graphics, effects and page themes. Click and Choose them for unlimited creativity thats easy enough for a beginner to use right from the start. Learn step by step how to accomplish advanced graphic frames and whimsical decorations with just a click of the mouse.
Session 15 : Creating Borders Learn how to set off your favorite pictures with creative torn-edge borders, hand-made frames and underlays to make unique page layouts as understated or overstated as you like.
Session 16 : Adding Text See how to create striking titles and fill them with Elements Click and Choose special text effects! Choose from special graphic effects, textures, embossments and drop shadows plus learn secret techniques for controlling the strength, color and details of special Click and Choose Artwork and Effects options.
Session 17 : Embellishments - Brads Learn how to make traditional round and textured brads to match any page layout you want. Make your own custom drop shadow in any color you want, and see how easily you can change a shiny brad to show 3-D texture.
Session 18 : Embellishments - Tags When you make your own tags, you can hand write on them right in Elements, or save the hand writing for traditional pen and ink after printing. Ill even show you how to make string so you can tie your tags any way you want to. Its fun and easy to do!
Session 19 : Embellishments - Push Pins Push pins are easy to hand make using default shapes in Elements. In fact, you can construct almost any object, once you understand the easy technique of combining and transforming shapes into objects. Then render the shape 3-D with special graphic effects included in the program. No more boring decorations for you!
Session 20 : Embellishments - Stamps See how to create a picture stamp and cancel it! Picture stamps can be made with photo files or your child's hand made drawings. Plus you can use them again and again. Cancelling them can also be created with adaptations of graphic shapes or you can do it later with your own rubber stamp.
Session 21 : Embellishments - Custom Stickies Learn how to make a sticky from a detail of a photograph that you can save and use again and again, changing the colors to match any image you want to work with. In addition, learn how to make a sticky note with a curled edge and shadow that you can write on in Elements or with traditional pen and ink after printing.
Session 22 : Additional Special Effects This session includes little odds and ends that make pages unique and fun to create. Learn how to make a machine stitching effect that looks 3-D and can be applied either straight as an arrow or randomly by hand. Make a striped ribbon with frayed edges and use Liquify to wiggle it on the page. Learn how to use the brush maker adjustments for special painting effects, like scattering droplets of paint on a page.
Session 23 : Printing Once you've created a beautiful page in Elements, you're going to want to print it. Learn step by step how to go through each window to make a print correctly; one that should closely match what you see on your monitor.
