The Pang Brothers team up yet again for this third installment of their award-winning series of The Eye films. Sharing the same kinetic thrills as the first two films, the brothers actually take a different approach in this one, creating a story that is more broad in scale than the more single-person-driven tales in the The Eye and The Eye 2.
While visiting a friend in Thailand, four Hong Kong teens kill time telling ghost stories and dabbling in communicating with the dead. After following an old book that claims to be a key to seeing the dead, the four unleash a series of events that leads to the odd disappearance of one of the group and the reclusive personality-change of another. Returning to Hong Kong, the remaining "unaffected" two of the group try to put the experience behind them, but it soon becomes apparent that the dead aren't going to let them off so easily.
