Majorstuen is a group of 6 young Norwegian fiddlers playing their own brand of exhilarating roots music. They are all from different musical backgrounds but play with one voice. The four women and two men all play fiddle (occasionally trading cello or viola). No other instruments. No electronic gizmos. All sounds are acoustic. Majorstuen has set its own limitations. But the creative force is powerful, and the feeling of freedom that comes pouring out of the music is more powerful still. This is Majorstuens second album - released in 2004, but never issued in the UK until now. They were awarded a Norwegian Grammy in 2003 for their debut album. In 2005 they were voted "Folk Musicians of the Year" by the Norwegian Concert Institute. Since 2001 they have toured in most western European countries as well as Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Israel and Canada - including many key festivals; and they gave presented a spirited showcase at Womex 2007.
