Commonly used as Ice Melt; CaCl2 is also used in cement manufacturing as an additive to reduce alkali content of cement and to help speed the drying of concrete in cold temperatures.

Used in many plating applications including waste treatment and in a solution together with ZnCl2 in bright zinc plating on steel as the electrolyte.
