From someone who has long term experience in all 3 consoles; take it from me that the Gamecube beats them all.
The downright truth is that Nintendo releases some pretty darn ingenius hardware and the most playable games ever! From Metroid, resident evil, to Mario kart and Zelda!
The console itself is the most compact, portable, and durable one out of the PS2 and Xbox.
I have seen the Xbox and for all intents and purposes I don't understand why people seem to think it outflanks the Gamecube graphics wise. I am dead serious when I say games like Halo 2 and Doom 3 are in fact not as visually impressive as games like mario sunshine, wind waker, metroid prime 2 and resident evil 0, 1 and 4. Gamecube never, ever gives you slow down like I have seen on the other consoles. Too many people are overly biased about the gamecube - they assume xbox and ps2 are superior through popularity and sales alone.
vast advertising and brand names are what make the majority of these sales, not the actual ability of the console and games themselves.
Nintendo basically fathered todays gaming world, like mcdonalds when it changes something on the menu (whether it be a controller feature or a whole new direction in gameplay) the competetion have followed. Nintendo has all focus on great games that EVERYONE can enjoy - hence the extremely credible prices and bundles offered. Nintendo are desperate? some of you say... well it seems to be doing pretty well having revealed its new console just recently.
Last but not least - Gamecube offers gaming to an extensive audience from 3 - 93 years of age. there are over 180 games and you cannot suggest they are all rated 3+.
And besides, the very idea that 'Gamecube harbours kiddy games' is quite illogical. For video games in general are indeed more for the older teenager at the very most let alone 30+ years.
Can you honestly suggest that saying at 20+ years of age: 'Xbox is better cause it has adult games like Halo and gotham racing!'
When Halo is a fantasy world about midget digital girls and laughing aliens and Gotham racing is about fictiously racing unreal competitors... wow! how mature.
The point is games aren't meant to be taken so seriously, nintendo realises this and so has crafted some fine interactive entertainment in doing so.
