One of Mariah's strongest songs lyrically is the first song she ever released, "Vision of Love." When I was younger, I was not a fan of this song, but as I grew more mature and actually took the time to listen to the lyrics, I enjoy and appreciate this song; it is undoubtedly one of her best. Her best uptempo song? Come on now, that has to go to "Dreamlover." That song makes you want to get up and dance, sing along, and just recall great junctures in your life. The production is out of this world! Mariah's most successful song is "One Sweet Day", which features male quartet Boyz II Men. This is another track I didn't care for until I was older and took a listen to the lyrics. This song is about the hope of seeing deceased loved ones again. In my opinion, it's still not her best song, but great nonetheless. "Hero" is arguably Mariah's signature song, and there's no need to wonder why. This song was played or performed at countless graduations and other ceremonies because the message is so important: There is no need to look up to other people, because you are a natural hero, a natural role model. Mariah isn't afraid to let the world know that she believes in God. Just take a listen to "Thank God I Found You", "When You Believe", and a song dedicated solely to Him, "Make It Happen." That vocal range is very present in "Make It Happen." Speaking of which, if one really is really interested in her vocal range, "Emotions" is the song for them to listen to. Mariah has never showcased her vocal range like she did at the end of that song! It's one of my personal Mariah favorites.
