Allentown, PA bicentennial plate 1762-1962. Marked: Kettlesprings Kilns, Alliance, Ohio. Numbered: KG82S. Shows pictures of founding father, Judge William Allen, the Liberty Bell Shrine, Bogarts Covered Bridge, Muhlenburg College Chapel, Lehigh County Court House and City Hall, Cedar Crest College, Historic Lehigh County Court House and the Springwood Log Cabin in Trexler Park. Excellent condition: no chips, wear marks or crazing. Size:10 1/8" in diameter.
The following is the text on the back of the plate:
"This plate was designed to depict some of the points of local and historical interests in commemoration of the Bicentennial Celebration of Allentown, Pennsylvania, May 25 to June 2, 1962. Allentown is a thriving city of diversified industries that provide a sound ecomomy for a proud and energetic population of 108,00. It is the county seat of Lehigh County which is celebrating its 150th aniversary this year. Of great historical importance is the 200-year old Zion Reformed Church which was the haven for the Liberty Bell when the Brithish occupied Philidelphia in 1777-1778. This church also housed the St. Paul's Lutheran congregation which is also celebrating its 200th anniversary this year."
