Early W. S. George dinner plate in the Bolera shape with a bold philodendron decal pattern. The Bolera pattern was introduced in the 1930s. Plate measures 10". There is some wear to the decals and there are some knife scratches on the surface, but there are no chips or cracks on the plate. Marked W. S. George, Bolera, 170A in script on the back of the plate.
W. S. George Pottery Company was an early 20th century Ohio and Pennsylvania pottery manufacturer. According to Lois Lehner's Encyclopedia of U.S. Marks on Pottery, Porcelain and Clay, W. S. George was involved in the founding of Canonsburg Pottery, but not involved in its daily operations.
