The Long Winter / ALLISTER THOMPSON is a Toronto, Canada-based singer, songwriter and guitar player. Inspired by the folk greats of the Seventies, names like Tim Buckley, John Martyn, Sandy Denny and Nick Drake, he crafts delicate psychedelic folk songs with intricate lyrics full of dark meaning and pastoral imagery. Definitely not run of the mill singer-songwriter material, his songs are augmented by skillful acoustic guitar playing. Born in the UK and spirited away to Canada at a young age, Allister got his start in music at the tender age of eighteen playing in a rock band called SleepwalkerÂ’s Union. After many years with that group, he went solo for two years and demoed number of songs before joining local Thin Lizzy-influenced glam rock group CRASH KELLY in 2002. His love of Seventies music being all-encompassing, Allister has greatly enjoyed playing in this up and coming rock and roll juggernaut. But he has never forgotten his musical first love, the heady mixture of folk and progressive music that helped define the decade he was born in. Now he has relaunched his solo gigging and recording career to bring the dark, reflective spirit of psych folk to new listeners.
