A beautiful 14K handcarved shell cameo dated by the former owner as being from the 1930s or earlier. It has a cast bead and twisted filigree setting which is marked 14K on both the 1/4" bail and the back of the mounting. The cameo itself depicts a woman with early cameo features, including the longer hair with the curls on top and the curls down the back, the long and straight Roman nose, the long ear and the lack of jewelry on the woman. All of these features together point to at least the 20s or 30s, but could also point back to the 1890s. The pendant is marked 14K on the bail and E 14K pm the back of the pendant mounting. I have scraped some gold away to double check for plating--I can find none. Book prices for similarly constructed and dated cameos run $250-$350. We are listing it here at $210.
