Viv Exotic VX 36 Vivarium 915 x 470 x 525mm Viv Exotic wooden vivariums have many benefits, not only do they look great but they also provide the perfect environment for you reptiles. Wooden vivariums are not only stronger and stackable, but they are also less prone to cracking, chipping and shattering, unlike more fragile glass vivariums.
Heating (Habistat Heat Mat, Repti Basking Lamp and Clamp Lamp) A Heat Mat placed under the warm side of the tank will gently heat the substrate. A basking light or heating element should be positioned above so that there is a vertical gradient, with the warmest end at the top.
Habistat heat mats are the traditional carbon impregnated glass cloth type heaters. Whilst some manufacturers have moved to the cheaper printed elements, Habistat believe that their styles of heaters are better and more reliable.
Repti Basking Spot Lamps have a unique patented double reflector that focuses 35% more heat and light into a tight beam ideal for use with diurnal reptiles that thermoregulate by basking, including many tropical and desert species.
The temperature gradient during the day should range from 76 F (24 C) on the cool side to 86 F (30 C) on the warm side, with a basking area ranging from 90-100 F (32-37.7 C). Night time temperatures can drop no lower than the low to mid 70s (21 C) on the cool side.
Lighting Bearded Dragons need daily access to a UVB source, to achieve this in a vivarium a UVB fluorescent light strip bulb is used in the form of a Exo Terra Repti Glo 8.0 (24") 20 Watt. This is held in place, and affixed to the vivarium using the Arcadia lighting controller.
Hides and Décor A hide is necessary on the cooler side of the vivarium, with branches and logs for climbing and basking on the warm side. Artificial plants provide a realistic look for the vivarium and a more natural habitat for your reptile.
Cleaning the Vivarium Clean the waste out of the vivarium daily with the Repti Sand Scooper, and when you give the vivarium a thorough clean, use the disinfectant spray. Apply hand cleaning gel to your hand before you interact with your reptile to help prevent passing harmful germs to your reptile.
