These corals have a hard skeleton and are a LPS coral. The polyps are very large and fleshy/meaty. Hence the name Meat coral. They are related to all brain coral sp. in the order lobophllia. The shape of the polyp can vary from piece to piece making each one unique. The outer edge of the polyp is heavy and ridged with small bumps. The center is smooth and has a several mouths. Tentacles are extended only at night, they usually have white tips. These corals are very hardy and tolerant of beginner's tanks. This coral enjoys medium flow with medium to moderate lighting. It has defenses against encroaching corals so space it from others a few inches. It can be mounted on the rock or left on the sand bed. It should be fed in the evening when small feeder tentacles are present. Foods should consist of meaty items like cut fish/shrimp/squid. Injured corals heal quickly under proper aquarium conditions.
