Leandra's inspiration for this bracelet:
Looking back at my mothers life as a 1950s housewife it would be easy to see only the drudgery of cleaning a house with no modern appliances but I remember her having fun too. Though she would have loved a phone, so that she could ring the doctor when her children were ill, instead of having to walk half a mile to the phone box. She seemed ancient to us children, though mum and dad were both still only in their twenties and had all the interests and insecurities of anyone of that age. Dad was most annoyed when he spotted that the new window cleaner looked just like Elvis! So he sacked him and vowed to do it himself from then on. Relatives and friends would visit and all the furniture would be pushed back while the adults did rocknroll jiving to Buddy Holly, Elvis and Gerry Lee Lewis. Occasionally dad would take mum for a night out and one of the aunties would baby-sit they would go to the local cinema to see a Hitchcock film, or to the Working Mens Club on Ladies Night, where she would listen to the singers and drink Babycham, feeling very sophisticated, almost like Audrey Hepburn. These memories and more were enjoyed as I created this bracelet hope you love it as much as I do.
