Caesarea is aport town built by Herod the Great about 25–13 BC. The city lies on the Mediterranean coast of Israel about halfway between the modern cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa. Caesarea was the capital city of Israel in the Roman and Crusaders period.The ruins of ancientCaesarea are located in a national parkclose tothe modern town of Caesarea.

In Herode's days, the size of the city was small comparatively, and undergroundstreams providedwater supply for the city. With the expansion of the city, additional water sources were located and waterworks were built, based on completesystem was found.
