Marshall 2203KK-H Kerry King Signature Amp
Rock band Slayer are responsible for the creation of a brutal genre of metal of which theyre still the masters. Guitarist Kerry Kings instantly identifiable sound is an integral part of that and his new Marshall Signature 2203KK Head delivers every bit of his trademark tone. To me Jim Marshall is the ultimate rock star because he makes us all sound better, King states. Its an incredible honor to have my signature on an amp right next to his.
Throughout his career, King has relied on a mid-'80s 100-Watt JCM800 2203 head he calls the Beast as the very heart of his sound. Hes also always used an outboard, 10-band graphic EQ to boost the mids in his guitar signal and drive the input of the Beast a little harder. This signature EQ curve/boost is built into the front-end of the 2203KK and its intensity is adjustable via a control aptly named Assault. King also always employs a Noise Gate to ensure total silence when hes not playing. The 2203KK boasts a built-in, studio-quality noise reduction which is both fast and adjustable. A quartet of KT88 power valves also adds what King refers to as warmth and girth.
The 2203KK has now replaced the Beast as Kings main and only amp. The 2203KK punches like Mike Tyson in his prime, the legendary Slayer guitarist concludes. Its definitely the coolest thing Ive ever been in the presence of.
Marshall is proud to present the new JCM800 2203KK Kerry King Signature Series. As part of our on going commitment to expand our range of signature products, Marshall, in partnership with Kerry King, has developed a new version of the legendary 2203 based on Kerry King's own amplifier nicknamed 'The Beast'.
Alongside replicating the sound of 'The Beast' the 2203KK incorporates a custom voiced EQ and noise gate circuit; external units that are used as part of Kerry King's core setup. When engaged, in combination with the amplifier, it truly captures the spirit of Kerry King's sound.
The amp has also been given a new custom artwork inspired by Kerry King's tattoos. Marshall has developed new techniques to allow designs to be printed directly on to fret allowing this distinctive design to leave the front panel and expand over the front baffle.
The product will also contain value added content:
- New A4 colour handbook
- Dustcover featuring custom artwork
- 5 Kerry King Jim Dunlop plectrums
- New outer carton artwork
Internally the production engineering has been brought up to date, allowing for simpler construction and easier servicing while still retaining 100% of the classic JCM800 tone.
Kerry King has worked closely with Marshall on the development and road testing of this product, including putting three prototypes vigorously through their paces every night of his 2006 tour.
