An superb rare red walnut veneered arched 12inch brass dial Longcase clock by this eminent clockmaker. The superb cabinet with pagoda top and brass strung cabinet, 2 plinths etc and showing all the typical fine quality London case features. The finely matted dial with the cartouche signed Godfrie Poy London, strike silent feature to arch, seconds and calendar features to dial centre. Chapter ring and spandrels to corners of dial. Outstanding quality movement with dead beat escapement and huge weight quality pendulum (heavier than driving weight) the back of the door with I believe the original and rare setting up label dated 1751. This shows how to set the clock to time and how many minutes and seconds it differs from sundial time. (Equation to time etc) This is very rare to still be intact. This clock is very special and of superb colour and patination. '8 day' duration. The 5 pillar movement also with very rare amazing length crutch. This clock needs to be viewed in the flesh to appreciate its many features.
