Massachusetts Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines in the Civil
War is an eight volume set set published in 1931 by the Massachusetts
Adjutant General's Office. It also includes the Index volume
to the Army Records as a ninth volume. This ninth volume was
produced to deal with the scattered nature of the Army records
in the volumes.
This comprehensive compilation contains the names of all
the men who served in the various Mass. units during the American
Civil War. Each regiment has a short history and a list of
names. Details include full name, rank, age, home city, occupation,
dates of service and reason for discharge. All told, there
are approximately 140,000 individuals detailed in this set
of books.
